Cultural activist, sociologist, promoter, raver, DJ and project manager at Clubcommission Berlin, Ilja Minaev has gained different perspectives on club culture and alternative cultural spaces throughout the years. Growing up in Moscow, experiencing the political pressure and closure of alternative spaces, made him aware of the importance of free and autonomous cultural space for the city and the society. Ilja has deepened this awareness with the knowledge and research that he conducted during his studies in history, political sciences and cultural sociology. Through his active participation in the cultural scenes of multiple European cities he has gathered insights into different spaces and modes of cultural production. In 2019 Ilja has been coordinating the Free Open Air Round Tables and supporting the new FEF Freiflächen Entwicklung Fortbildung project at Clubcommission Berlin.
